The problem with Ducati bevel twins exhaust threads is they are a very sloppy fit with the exhaust nuts, which made them prone to stripping, especially when people did them up so tight, which they had to because they come loose all the time, because the threads are so sloppy. The aftermarket exhaust nuts were a bit better because the thread diameter was slightly larger and so fit better. If you do send the heads in for a thread refurbish, make sure you send the nut with them. We use an alloy insert screwed and bonded into the head. You don't have to disassemble anything on the head, straight off the engine we can put an insert in it.
I started out in industry as a toolmaker having completed an apprenticeship with GM-H in Port Melbourne, Victoria, in 1986. It was a great place to learn the trade with so many faculties of manufacturing all together in the one place. Not long after I became involved in CNC machining and 3D CAD modelling/design work. About the same time I purchase my first few Ducati motorcycles, a 1980 model Darmah and a 1975 model 750 SS. It was during the restoration of the SS that my first rubber mould was made, the rubber boot for the red Ducati Electronica transducers, and thus the start of BEVEL RUBBER. Today we have a few hundred different parts in our regular production schedule and still growing, not to mention distributing wholesale to shops Australia wide and internationally. Thank you to all the great friends and interactions I have had over the years in making these parts, for the bikes to which we are all very passionate about.
We are predominantly an on-line store. Please ring to make an appointment to drop off or pick up work from our workshop.
