750GT, Sport, SS & early S2/MHR wear block (1)

At last, a properly engineered wear block to suit the earlier bikes. If you use a 16 tooth front sprocket chances are your cases have gouges in them from the chain backlash, especially if you have gone for a longer rear shock like Ikons (ex Koni) or a shock of similar length. This block will prevent the cases from any further wear, which can go all the way to the bottom engine bolt if left un-attended. This block was developed here at Bevel Rubber and the design is based on the original block made for the Darmah's when they went to a longer rear shock. Only one hole is needed to be drilled and tapped in the frame engine mounting plate in which is hidden behind the exhaust anyway. Click here to see the Darmah type chain wear blocks.

Below are some pictures of a hole positioning tool that I use to instal these blocks, very simple yet effective to position the hole from the outside of the frame. The rod sits in the hole of the wear block and locates the correct position to centre punch the other side of the engine mounting plate. It could even be made from sheet metal.

I have made a couple of these locating tools to be loaned out, some of them also circulating overseas in the US and in the UK. Check with me to arrange one to be sent to you on the basis that you can on send it to the next person.
